چکیده

Pyridoxal dehydrogenase is specific for DPNf and does not oxidize benzaldehyde, acetaldehyde, salicylaldehyde, or Sdeoxypyridoxal. In the presence of the latter compound, oxidation of pyridoxal is stimulated, apparently because of the occurrence of the dismutation reaction (ii). Z-Demethyl-Z-ethylpyridoxal is dehydrogenated at the same rate as pyridoxal. At high substrate concentrations the pH

Phylogenetic analyses and comparative genomics of vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) and pyridoxal phosphate biosynthesis pathways.

Vitamin B6 in its active form pyridoxal phosphate is an essential coenzyme of many diverse enzymes. Biochemistry, enzymology and genetics of de novo vitamin B6 biosynthesis have been primarily investigated in Escherichia coli. Database searches revealed that the key enzymes involved in ring closure of the aromatic pyridoxin ring (PdxA; PdxJ) are present mainly in genomes of bacteria constitutin...

Biochemical characterization of gapB-encoded erythrose 4-phosphate dehydrogenase of Escherichia coli K-12 and its possible role in pyridoxal 5'-phosphate biosynthesis.

One step in de novo pyridoxine (vitamin B6) and pyridoxal 5'-phosphate biosynthesis was predicted to be an oxidation catalyzed by an unidentified D-erythrose-4-phosphate dehydrogenase (E4PDH). To help identify this E4PDH, we purified the Escherichia coli K-12 gapA- and gapB-encoded dehydrogenases to homogeneity and tested whether either uses D-erythrose-4-phosphate (E4P) as a substrate. gapA (g...

Two independent routes of de novo vitamin B6 biosynthesis: not that different after all.

Vitamin B6 is well known in its biochemically active form as pyridoxal 5'-phosphate, an essential cofactor of numerous metabolic enzymes. The vitamin is also implicated in numerous human body functions ranging from modulation of hormone function to its recent discovery as a potent antioxidant. Its de novo biosynthesis occurs only in bacteria, fungi and plants, making it an essential nutrient in...

Vitamin B6 concentrations in patients with chronic liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma.

Vitamin B6 concentrations in patients with chronic liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma Vitamin B6 is the generic term for three closely related and interconvertible compounds. Most of the vitamin B6 obtained from the diet is rapidly converted by the liver to its active coenzyme, pyridoxal-5-phosphate, which has a central role in the metabolism of amino acids. Patients with chronic liver ...

Inflammation causes tissue-specific depletion of vitamin B6

Previously we observed strong and consistent associations between vitamin B6 status and several indicators of inflammation in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Clinical indicators, including the disability score, the length of morning stiffness, and the degree of pain, and biochemical markers, including the erythrocyte sedimentation rate and C-reactive protein levels, were found to be inverse...
